"Jagua" is the fruit extract formally known as Genipa Americana. It has been used for thousands of years by indigenous tribes of the American Jungles. The juice of the unripe fruit colors the skin a beautiful indigo blue color, which lasts for 7-10 days (about the same as henna, because it works in a similar way staining the dead skin cells, which then exfoliate naturally). Jagua is the safe alternative to dangerous chemicals such as PPD. Jagua gel enables you to temporarily achieve a tattoo-like color, completely naturally without the pain.

Purchase of this product also encourages the preservation of rainforest, as this tree is valuable alive, than being sold off for clearcutting for soybean or beef production or hardwood collection.

Jagua gel is applied to clean dry skin, and allowed to sit for 2-3 hours, after which it can be peeled off or washed off. At first, the stain is almost invisible, and then with the exposure to oxygen, the dye molecule (Genipine) oxidizes and darkens to a beautiful blueish tone over the next 24 hours. Smudges and smears can be cleaned up with rubbing alcohol to avoid staining.
